Death of Christ: The CrossThe theme of this major section is the death of the Lord Jesus, a cornerstone of the Christian faith. Christ’s death on the cross appeared a dismal failure, but it was in reality a glorious triumph. The Cross has great meaning and significance. We will consider how through the Cross, God establishes the New Covenant, poured out His Spirit upon mankind, and provides the way for man to overcome the weakness of the flesh, the powers of darkness and the influence of the world. Appreciation of the Cross invokes in us a deeper sense of worship for God, and motivates us to live with a greater sense of meaning and purpose. We conclude this section with reflections on the Lord’s Supper.
